Christmas 2011

We had such a wonderful Christmas here at the Lau house. Glen had the 24th through the 28th off and it was so nice to have him home. We started the day on Christmas Eve by making reindeer pancakes.We spent the morning cooking and taking carmels to our neighbors. We sang for our neighbors too and I think the kids liked that. Christmas Eve we played games, acted out the nativity, ate a delicious dinner made by Glen, sang lots of Christmas songs, and sprinkled reindeer food out on the lawn and got ready for Santa. We started watching Elf and Taylor had a coughing fit and started throwing up from coughing so hard. Luckily we were blessed and she was able to sleep all night. Matthew and Taylor slept upstairs in our playroom on the blow up mattress. They were so excited to sleep together up there and had to bring up their little Christmas tree. Every little thing we did that day the kids made so fun because of their excitement. Matthew was awake before 5 but we made him stay upstairs for awhile. We all got up by 5:30 and were done by 6:30. We had plenty of time to still get to church by 9. Church was mostly all songs and it was great. Glen and I are in the choir which has been really fun! The rest of the day was so peaceful and fun to just be together as a family. It was fun to not go anywhere this year and to start our own traditions. Helping make carmels and it does look like Taylor is picking her nose.......awesome!Glen made tourtiere for dinner which is a meat pie and it was delicious. He let the kids roll out the leftover pie crust to cook and put cinnamon sugar on. The yummy pie! I am so glad likes to cook. He doesn't get to do it often but when he is home he is so nice to help out. He also made a delicous sweet patatoe casserole. Playing Battleship on Christmas Eve. Glen and I were laughing so hard because we were cheating a little to hurry things along. The kids love to play it but Taylor is not the greatest partner. She starts removing all the pegs she is not supposed to. We opened the keyboard we got from Gram and Grandad on Christmas Eve during the day so we could use it to sing Christmas songs. Such a cute Mary and JosephWe tried two days to get a decent picture of us but either we didn't zoom in enough or somebody was pulling a funny face. Taylor got some ballet clothes and wore them all day and quite a bit since then. So happy to have Daddy homeGlen laughs at me but you have to take these pictures to remember what you got for Christmas!Matthew loves his remote control car and Glen and him spent a lot of Christmas day putting together legos. The weather has been great and while Glen was still off work we went out to ride bikes. Matthew is getting better without the training wheels. We mainly hung out a lot the rest of Glen's breaks and got together with friends a few times. It was such a wonderful Christmas!!
