We can dance!! video below

The kids don't usually get to watch So You Think You Can Dance with me but since we moved here to Memphis it starts at 7 instead of 8. I really have hated our move to the Central Time Zone for this reason; I used to be able to put the kids to bed in time for a 8:00 show if there was one I wanted to watch. Glen was not home to entertain the kids while I sneaked a little of SYTYCD so I let them watch. Very quickly they were tired of watching and wanted to dance themselves; Taylor ran to get her tutu and then I found them in the living room doing what is on the video below. If you watched the show you saw the amazing leap and catch by Melanie. I found the kids recreating that move and had to get it on video! Sorry about my knee being in every picture??

Not my favorite activity

Matthew found my camera in my purse and started taking pictures while we were grocery shopping; it kept them entertained for quite awhile. I love how big their noses look in all of these pictures. I need to think of ideas to keep these kids contained while grocery shopping. They are getting too big and either pester each other or play with all of the food in the cart. Either way they look and sound like crazy animals lately.

New Places

Glen had the day off on Saturday and we headed out early to Shelby Farms. It is not really a farm but more of a big park (it used to be a farm). I have been missing the many metro parks that we had in Toledo so it was fun to see that there was something similar out here. It is huge and there are tons of lakes throughout it. The trail we went on was close to 3 miles but there is one (not paved) that is around 6 miles I think. The playground was amazing and the kids loved it. It was designed to be things you would really do in nature. I am not very good at describing it but there were a lot of swinging, climbing, and sliding things. The place is 15 minutes away so we won't be going there everyday but hopefully we will go there more in the fall when it isn't so HOT! We somehow hit a morning where the heat let up a little and the sun was hiding behind the clouds. The wire stuff in the background is going to eventually have vines growing all around it.

Celebrate!!

Bartlett had their fireworks and celebrations on the 2nd which was great because Glen was off and did have to work on the 4th. The fireworks were great and we all had a lot of fun. The kids and I went to some friends house for a barbecue on the 4th and the kids played in their kiddie pool; it was a great holiday weekend.

All the recipes use a cake mix but then add other ingredients to make them all a little fancier. Thanks to Glen's Mom for introducing me to the books and thanks to Glen for buying them for me!We started out the day at the same place where the fireworks were that evening. They were having a kids fishing contest which we did not participate in because we have no fishing stuff. The kids liked looking at the big fish the kids caught. They had crafts for the kids, face painting, blow up jumpy toys, and snow cones (all free.....my favorite). The kids went on a few more blow up toys that night before the fireworks started. I love the 4th of July!!!!
