We had a wonderful trip to St. Thomas last week and it was so nice to spend time with just the two of us. There are a ton of pictures but make sure you listen to some of the tunes I listened to on the beach to help this experience be more enjoyable. Most of the first pictures were from our day on the island St. John; we took a car ferry over and it was a busy and fun day. It was also our sunniest day!! It rained and rained and rained on our trip and was cloudy most of the time. At first I was pretty bummed but we did get a couple of sunny days and sometimes I didn't mind the clouds. It was always 85 degrees so it was warm and laying in a hammock by the beach and not getting burnt and with no sun in your eyes and feeling the ocean breeze is also great! We mainly relaxed at different beaches or by the pool, we hiked a little, ate out at a lot of fun places, and explored the different towns. I was also sad that I could not snorkel because of my ears; I have had some hearing loss and my inner ear isn't working correctly so I got tubes put in both my ears a few weeks ago to allow me to put steroid drops directly in them. Sadly the tubes and drops have not helped so I was kind of mad about not being able to just dive in the water and go snorkeling. Oh well :( It was just so nice to sleep in although I swear Glen and I cannot sleep in past 7 or 8. I blame it on our kids who are always up at 6. We watched movies and a lot of HGTV which was fun. Food is crazy expensive there and our trip to a scary grocery store was something to remember. We also had a beat up rental car and the trunk would not close. St. Thomas is hilly and the roads are very windy so on any bump our trunk would pop open. We finally took it back and got a new car that was much better and also found out that i could drive the car since Glen lost his drivers licence. We did find it but realized before then that it was expired anyway. OOPS! So I drove the whole trip which was wild, fun, and very scary at times. They drive on the left side of the road but in American cars so the steering wheel is not on the other side. That really wasn't too hard to do but the hills were another story. There were times I for sure thought we were going to roll back down the hill or off a cliff. I had the gas pushed as far down as I could and we barely were making it up these hills only to make a sharp left turn and have to go straight up again. It was mainly on St. John where we got lost that we encountered the really steep and scary roads. It is a fun memory now! Overall, we had so much fun and a big thanks to Glen's Mom and Dad for watching our kids. Sorry about all the pictures and sadly because it was so cloudy you can't see how pretty it really was. You can just imagine it brighter and greener!

YEah I have been checking your blog to see an update on your trip. I really love your music, I hadn't heard the first one. The 3rd one always makes me happy. I will for sure have to buy it in ITUNES, so we can have some jam music in the car in Hawaii. I think it's great you and Glen got a get away in between his crazy schedules. I love the color of the water so so much! You guys look like the only ones on the beach! So peaceful. Way to take the wheel literally and drive around town! Sounds like a crazy experience! I was laughing about it going up hill because that's how I use to feel with our Corolla on steep roads. So I'm guessing your kids were alright without you? Can't wait for more pictures I miss you so so much.....
Oh!! I've been wondering about how things went! All your pictures really remind me of Hawaii...I miss it! The sand, the blue blue water, the greenery...everything! I'm impressed you could just hang out at the beach and pool so much. Darin wasn't so good at just hanging out, a couple of hours was good for him! The hike sounds a lot like ours too. 85 degree weather must have been heaven!! I'm so glad you got to go! Such a priceless memory.
so fun!! it really is great to just get a break from kids and go anywhere- but no kids and a tropical island is perfect!! no matter what you do! your pina colada looks amazing!
I'm so glad that you guys got to go on this trip. It sure looked like you had a great time despite the weather. St. John's beach was my very favorite. It's so beautiful and just what you'd imagine the Caribbean to look like. I sure wish you could have gone snorkeling too. Next time. It sure looked like you got to stay at a great place. That pool area overlooking the ocean looked awesome. I could just sit and drink Pina colada's and read a book by the pool all day (well at least half the day). Loved, loved, loved the music. It really made me feel like I was there with you. I'll have to call you soon! Love ya.
I'm so happy for you that you two were able to get away on a nice vacation. You deserve it! I loved the pictures and was excited to see Trunk Bay. Isn't it so beautiful there? We went a few years ago.
Can't wait to see more pictures!
What an awesome trip! I'm sure it felt so good to get away for a little bit! You look gorgeous girl! You guys should have stopped by for a visit, since you were so close:)
You look great Jill! I love that one colorful shirt you are wearing in that one picture. We have to go on a vacation together someday. I'm so glad you got to go and relax. I sure hope the headaches are better. It's been about a year since I saw you! It's too long! I got to come see you in Memphis once you get settled. Love ya!
Oh, it looks heavenly! I love the Caribbean. Looks like such a great trip. I'm getting excited for your big move!
That place looks like paradise. What a treat to celebrate the end of medical school with a trip without kids. You're going to be pinching yourself on graduation day saying, "is this really happening to us?" because being in school for this long feels eternal. I hope the move for you guys is smooth sailing and that you avoid that horrific flooding down there!
